RTB Driving School specialises in structured intensive driving courses that move you from where you are now to test-ready in as little as 1–4 weeks, depending on the course hours you choose. Instead of spreading lessons over months, you learn in focused daily blocks with the same experienced instructor.
Whether you are a complete beginner, have a few hours under your belt, or are almost ready for your test and just need a final polish, we will match you to the right intensive package. On this page you can compare course lengths, see who each package is for, and understand how we schedule lessons, prepare you for the test and support refresher drivers.
RTB Driving School offers intensive packages from 5 to 45 hours so you can choose the level that fits your current driving experience, confidence and timescale. Each package can be taken in manual or automatic, and your instructor will tailor lesson content to your strengths and weaknesses.
The outline below explains who each course typically suits and the kind of progress you can expect. Exact prices and live availability are shown on our Prices & Booking page, where you can also secure your place online.

Our manual intensive driving courses are taught in modern dual-control manual cars. You will learn smooth clutch control, confident gear changes and how to handle hills, roundabouts and junctions in real South & West Wales traffic.
Choosing a manual licence means you can legally drive both manual and automatic cars in future, which is ideal if you want maximum flexibility for work, family or travel. Manual intensive courses are a good fit if you are comfortable coordinating clutch and gears, or are happy to take a bit more time early on in exchange for long-term benefits.
We offer every intensive package from 5 to 45 hours in manual. Your instructor will recommend a course length based on your previous experience, confidence and how quickly you want to reach test standard.
If changing gear is something you struggle with, or you simply want to focus on road awareness and decision-making, an automatic intensive course could be the right choice. Our automatic cars are modern, comfortable and fitted with dual controls for your safety.
Without a clutch pedal to think about, many learners find they progress more quickly and feel calmer in busy traffic. Automatic is especially popular with nervous drivers, those with coordination difficulties, or anyone who mainly plans to drive in towns and cities.
Remember that an automatic licence only allows you to drive automatic cars once you pass. If that suits your plans, an automatic intensive course can be a fast, low-stress route to a full licence.
Most intensive courses run over 1–4 weeks depending on the total hours you book. We usually teach in blocks of 2–5 hours per day, with regular short breaks so you can stay focused and absorb what you are learning.
Your instructor will plan a clear structure for your course, gradually moving from quieter roads to more complex situations such as multi-lane roundabouts, faster roads and busy town centres. As you progress, we build in realistic mock tests so you can experience what the practical test will feel like.
Lesson times are agreed with you in advance to fit around work, college or family commitments wherever possible.
We offer flexible pick-up and drop-off within our South & West Wales coverage area, subject to instructor availability. In many cases we can collect you from home, college, work or a convenient meeting point and finish your lesson at the same or a different location.
Routes are chosen to reflect the kinds of roads you will face on test day, including typical local test centre areas. If you are unsure whether we can pick you up from your address, just get in touch and we will confirm options.
From the start of your intensive course we focus on building safe, consistent driving habits that match DVSA test standards. As you progress, we introduce full mock tests under realistic conditions so you can get used to driving independently, following signs and managing nerves.
We can advise you on when to book your practical test and, where possible, schedule your course so that your test falls at the end of your training. We also offer guidance on theory test preparation and can point you towards useful apps and practice materials.
RTB Driving School regularly prepares learners for a range of local test centres across South & West Wales. Your instructor will plan lessons around the types of roads, junctions and hazards you are likely to meet on your chosen test route.
Already hold a full UK licence but feel out of practice or nervous on certain roads? Our refresher driving courses are designed for qualified drivers who want to rebuild confidence, update their skills or focus on specific situations.
Typical goals include getting back behind the wheel after a break, improving motorway or dual carriageway skills, gaining confidence in busy town traffic or adapting to a new car. Refresher lessons are available in both manual and automatic, with 5 and 10 hour options plus fully tailored plans.
Your instructor will agree clear objectives with you at the start of the course and focus every lesson on the areas that matter most to you.
Who are intensive driving courses suitable for?
Intensive courses work well for motivated learners who can commit to regular lessons over 1–4 weeks. We will always recommend a package that matches your current experience and confidence.
What is the minimum age and what do I need before I start?
You must hold a valid UK provisional driving licence and meet the minimum age requirements set by the DVSA. It is helpful, but not essential, to have passed your theory test before starting an intensive course.
How do payments work?
You can view up-to-date prices and pay securely online via our Prices & Booking page, using debit or credit card and PayPal. A deposit may be required to secure your dates, with the balance due before your course starts.
Can I change or cancel my booking?
If your plans change, please contact us as soon as possible. Our ability to move or refund a booking will depend on how much notice you give and instructor availability.
What pass rate do you have?
RTB Driving School has an excellent pass rate across South & West Wales. Your instructor will be honest about when you are ready to take the test and will not encourage you to book before you are prepared.
Will I need time off work or college?
Many learners choose to take some time off for intensive courses, but we can often schedule lessons around shifts, lectures or school hours. Talk to us about your situation and we will suggest a realistic plan.
